Tracing and writing

Tracing is the beginning of writing; however, tracing by itself is lost without meaning. Teacher's modeling is vital for the development of writing skills . An explicit mini lesson to show the students how letters are written is crucial; only then the more practice the student have, the better. The English version was designed to also study 5 letter sounds at the same time and then to study word families that rhyme. The objective is to match the beginning sound of the word represented in the picture, and then to replace them with actual 3D letters. Finally, the student will recognize the onset and then the rhyming part of the word.  

Teacher Cards

These cards are used in a whole group or small group instruction. They are used to introduce new vocabulary, letter sounds and eventually letter names as well. It will take about 2 months to master each level. This mastery depends on the vocabulary knowledge the acquire every two months through practice.

They come in five levels. From level to level, the science based vocabulary goes from simple to complex and concrete to abstract. At the end of the year your students will learn about 300 words total if used in both English and Spanish.

Picture tiles

The picture tiles are small pictures that goes with the teacher cards. They do not have any letters and students use them to velcro them into the mat. The students sing the song as they track from left to right and top to bottom while looking for the correct letter. They are coloful, laminated, and with velcro already on them. Just cut the squares and ready to use on the mat! We recommend to use them in small group instruction. They come in all five levels as well.

Letter tiles

Letter tiles are designed to help student's master upper and lower case matching. Once the class is ready to be introduced to grapho-phonemic awareness and actual writing, a small group instruction will be what we recommend to use letter tiles. They come in lower case, laminated, with velcro ready to use.

Word Wall

These were designed for any Pre-k or K bilingual or dual language classroom. They are great to use in an intercative word wall or as flash cards. They are color coded following the Gomez & Gomez model; blue in for English and red is for Spanish. They come in all levels 1 through 5. See an example below.

Practice Sheets

The Spanish version was designed to use during small group instruction. Use the same picture tiles. The objective is to match the picture with its beginning sound. We will break down the reading readiness process by first study five letter sounds at the same time, then to study syllables by replacing the sounds with actual 3D letters. Finally, use them in a one or two syllable words . The student will be able to re-enforce vocabulary, letter sounds and build upon the reading process one step at the time. These can be used also as an informal evaluation tool. They come in a set for four students.
